Dobson Ice Arena in Vail Colorado-Summer Schedule 2009
Posted by: | Comments| Bob Johnson Hockey School will return July 19-25 for the 24th year bringing top instructors, including U.S. women’s coach and 1980 Olympic team member Mark Johnson, to Vail to teach young players how to develop their hockey skills. The camp features fundamentals of power skating, shooting, passing and stick handling, as well as sportsmanship and teamwork.
Dobson Ice Arena will close for scheduled maintenance Sunday, May 3 and reopen Monday, June 8. Scheduled work includes replacing the ice sheet, cleaning dashboards and glass, plus general maintenance and repair. Upon reopening, the arena will resume normal operations and programming: ShowTime skating, hockey camps, public skating and its largest adult hockey league to date, which includes 28 teams from Eagle County, including a women’s specific division. Glenwood Hot Springs Receives 2009 Top Brass
Two Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association awards honor the Spa of the Rockies and the Glenwood Hot Springs.
At its Annual Gala Awards ceremony, the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association honored one business entity for being both an exciting new venue on Glenwood’s tourism scene and its oldest ongoing tourism business.
The new Spa of the Rockies was unveiled in October 2008. The $10 million, 13,000 sq ft project is a welcome addition to the Glenwood Hot Springs complex and community.
The Spa of the Rockies embraces health and wellness with holistic and mineral based treatments including massage, body treatments, hydrotherapy, facials, hand, foot, and nail services.
The Top Brass Award honors personal or professional achievement, and business expansion or milestones. In its 120th year of operation, the Glenwood Hot Springs is the oldest continuous business in the region. The natural mineral springs provide healing qualities, while the outdoor swimming pool and smaller therapy pool offer a playground for watery fun and relaxation.

Golf Event May 18 …
St. Clare School is hosting their 8th annual golf challenge on Monday, May 18th. Shotgun Start at 10am at the Sonnenalp Golf Course. The event supports the school’s Tuition Assistance Fund. There will be fantastic giveaways, raffle prizes, and awards from Ogio, ClubGlove, Scheyden Eyewear, among others.
The event will be a scramble format limited to 27 teams and will include lunch (partially
sponsored by Alpine Bank and Outback Steakhouse) and an awards party with beer, wine, and prizes at Balata Restaurant.

Vail Vacationers Shop at Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop in Glenwood Springs, Colorado

The Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop and collectible Webkinz will team up this year for a 3-day event to benefit Glenwood’s Youth Zone.
Glenwood Springs Police Dept will be at the Sport Shop on Saturday, May 2, to fingerprint and give Kids ID kits to the first 75 children between 9-11 am.
May 1-3 – kids can buy special edition Webkinz for $1.00 with a $15.00 purchase. All proceeds from the $1.00 sale will be donated to Glenwood’s Youth Zone. This special sale is part of the now-annual Webkinz Extravaganza, celebrating the fourth year of Ganz’s stuffed animal “pets.” Each animal comes with a unique Secret Code that enables owners to enter Webkinz World online to access tips to care for their virtual pet, answer trivia questions, and play games. Ganz has created specially tagged Webkinz for this event, and buyers will have until May 31, 2009 to register their charity Webkinz, then those codes will expire. The Sport Shop has 300 Webkinz to sell for this promotion. A drawing will be held in which two children will win a wardrobe for their Webkinz pets. The Ganz Company’s charitable organization (www.webkinzfoundation.org) donates to programs that benefit children. The Webkinz Foundation is dedicated to improving the welfare, health, development and safety of children everywhere. The Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop has a large and diverse collection of Crocs. Eagle Vail Golf Club, the Vail Valley’s only public mountain course, kicks off the 2009 season on May 1, opening 10 holes and extending the season pass value sale. For $35 including a cart, golfers can tune up their early season golf game. Significant price breaks on season passes for Eagle Vail and Eagle County residents continue until May 15.
Eagle Vail Golf Club’s new driving range ball machine accepts cash and credit cards at the practice facility. There are 72 new Club Car Precedent Golf Carts for 2009 players.
The course is central to amenities and activities, including the public swimming pool, tennis courts, and parks in Eagle Vail. Eagle Vail’s Willow Creek public par 3 course is exceptional for families, beginners, and perfecting the short game. Willow Creek opens Saturday, May 23, Memorial Day Weekend.
Extended Pre-Season Pass Sale
Eagle Vail Golf Club has extended its Pre-Season Pass Sale until May 15. It’s the last chance for Eagle Vail residents to purchase a season pass for $695 ($30 savings), and Eagle County residents for $725 ($50 savings). Junior Passes cost $250 for Eagle Vail residents and $325 for Eagle County residents in the early season, a $25 savings. Family Passes discount for $1500 for Eagle Vail and $1600 for County residents ($50 savings).
